Traditional Knowledge and Ocean Governance

The Indonesian Institute of Advanced International Studies (INADIS) has launched a webinar series on ocean governance that aims to improve the connectivity between the local, national, regional, and global level in terms of Indonesia’s approach to ocean governance. Here are the results of the discussion during the first webinar titled ‘Traditional Knowledge and Ocean Governance.’ The webinar was held on April 24, 2021, inviting panellists to discuss how traditional knowledge was negotiated and implemented at various levels of governance.

Toward City-based Structures: Lessons Learned from Indonesia’s Responses against the COVID-19 Pandemic

The local governments, on the other hand, showed quicker and likely more effective responses in navigating through the hard times. This article illustrates why we should consider giving more prominence to the local governments--particularly on city governance--and starting to prepare better environment and institutions for the cities to thrive.

Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway: Wide Acceptance, Possibly Low Ridership

From 6-10 April 2019, we sent an online questionnaire to 235 random respondents living in the Greater Jakarta and Greater Bandung areas to get to know their opinions on the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (JBHSR). Contrary to our initial hypothesis, a significant number of them actually responded positively (86.6%). However, that doesn't necessarily mean they are willing to use it.
