Tahun ini merupakan tahun yang penuh tantangan bagi pelaksanaan diplomasi Indonesia. Pemulihan pasca-pandemi masih menjadi tema utama dalam politik luar negeri tahun ini. Akan tetapi, Indonesia akan menghadapi tantangan global, regional, dan nasional yang lebih besar untuk keberhasilan diplomasi Indonesia. Pada tahun 2022, tema utama diplomasi Indonesia adalah presidensi G20 di tingkat global, sikap Indonesia menyelesaikan permasalahan regional, dan diplomasi vaksin untuk negara-negara selatan.
