Webinar | Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing: Challenges and Solutions

The Indonesian Institute of Advanced International Studies (INADIS) is holding a seminar series on ocean governance to welcome the beginning of the Ocean Decade of Science (2021-2030) and to create a momentum for the 4th Intergovernmental Conference on Marine Biodiversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ). The objective of our seminar series is to improve the connectivity between Indonesia’s approach to ocean governance at local, national, regional, and global levels. Our second seminar, titled ‘Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing: Challenges and Solutions’, will be held on May 22, 2021.

Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing: Challenges and Solutions

This seminar will map the problems posed by illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing in Indonesia. Using Indonesia as a case study the seminar will highlight the interconnection between the practices and implications of IUU fishing at global, regional, national, and local levels. The seminar will bring together expert panellists who will discuss and explain the challenges and opportunities in tackling IUU fishing and why all stakeholders have a role to play in addressing this problem.
